Nature, Cultural & Archaeology Tours and Packages

Nitun Ecolodge is located in the best place to access the UNESCO site of Tikal and other world-famous Maya archaeological sites. It is also a fantastic location for bird watching and wildlife, both on the grounds and in the Maya Biosphere, as well as at the archaeology sites.  The rainforest is home to a wealth of culture and history.   Tours to the communities at Uaxactun, where Wrigleys harvested gum in the 1930's, and the communities that inhabit the shores of Lake Peten Itza provide an incredible insight into daily life in this tropical area.

At Nitun we offer a large variety of activities, full and half day tours, and packages. If you don't see what you are looking for here please just contact us, and we will be happy to tailor-make your Nitun experience in consultation with you and your travel group. The main sites we visit include Tikal, Yaxha, Uaxactun, Aguateca and Ceibal but we can also organise trips to lesser visited sites such as El Mirador and Nakbe and even into Belize and Mexico. We also offer a number of community tours and other activities such as the canopy walk and zip-line at Ixpanpajul, the Tikal Zip Line, visits to Petecito Rescue centre, Flores island "city" tour and many more. For the most adventurous travellers, we can also organise multi-day jungle treks to sites such as El Zotz and El Mirador.

The beauty of coming to Nitun is that you never know who will be staying there at the same time as you... perhaps a world-famous archaeologist, botanist or photographer. Lore herself has undertaken some incredible exploration journies in the Maya Biosphere and beyond.

There are stories of adventure and discovery a-plenty when you stay at Nitun.
